Day 2 - Athlone Golf Club
Short journey to Hodson Bay on the western shore of Lough Ree and Athlone Golf Club. Athlone is an old, mature course that has recently been developed into one of the finest tests of golf in the midlands. Overnight in Athlone.
Day 3 - Esker Hills Golf Club
40 minutes towards Tullamore and one of the top ranked courses in midland Ireland at Esker Hills. David Walsh of the Sunday Times wrote "if you are a golfer, never ever pass this place". Overnight in Athlone.
Day 4 - Mullingar Golf Club
Today you drive northeast to the county town of Mullingar and Mullingar Golf Club. This is a mature, tree-lined course that has also undergone recent renovation. The Mullingar Senior Scratch Cup is an annual amateur tournament that always attracts Irish and foreign amateurs. Overnight Athlone.
Day 5 - Glasson Golf Club
Just northeast of Athlone is the pretty village of Glasson and the magnificent Glasson Golf & Country Hotel on the western shores of Lough Ree. Another Christy Jnr. masterpiece, Glasson makes full use of stunning lake vistas while presenting a stern golfing challenge. Overnight Athlone.
Day 6 - Tullamore Golf Club
A James Braid design, Tullamore Golf Club is another old & mature course where magnificent specimen trees guard many of the fairways. Judicious use of bunkering and some natural water hazards complete the chellenge. Overnight Athlone.
Day 7 - Portumna Golf Club
Southwest of Athlone further downstream on the River Shannon is Portumna and Portumna Golf Club. Part of old estate grounds, Portumna is another superb parkland test. Final night in Athlone.
Day 8 - Departure from Shannon Airport
Transfer to airport for onward departure.
