Bunclody Golf Course

The golf course at Bunclody is a Jeff Howe design widely regarded as being his finest work to date. 300 acres of the old Hall-Dare estate was used to create a course that visits the River Slaney twice during the round, once on either half. Extensive but clever bunkering and subtle tee placements amongst the trees complement the mature woodland setting. But it is the finishing stretch that lives long in the memory, the 14th hole that plunges down to the river starts one of the most thrilling finishes in Irish golf.
Bunclody Course Description
The first five holes are laid out in relatively open territory away from the river. After the long and well bunkers first, the next 4 holes feature 4 lakes. The pick of these is the 3rd that runs along the river, separated from it by large mature trees.
The front nine concludes with 4 holes adjacent to the river, the most memorable being the long par-5 eighth hole that travels along the river bank and features bunkers on the other side almost every step of the way.
