CADDIES

The vast majority of Irish golfers walk and carry/pull their own clubs. Caddies are not as widely available as some might think and the standard and policies differs form club to club. Caddies are not obligatory on any golf course in Ireland. Considerations on Using Caddies in Ireland

Caddies may be requested at most golf clubs at time of booking. Caddies are never guaranteed although are generally available on the day of play at most of the major visitor courses.

No guarantees can be made as to the quality of caddy
No guarantees can be made that groups requesting single bags will not be offered one caddy per 2 players

Caddy costs are generally between €35-€50 per bag per round. Per bag costs when a caddy 'double bags' receive a €5 discount at most.

Tipping is discretionary but normally between €10-€15 for good service.

Caddies are self-employed and must be paid in cash (local currency) on the day.

Caddymasters/Starters organise caddies at some clubs - while these may sometimes be employees of the golf clubs they will accept no responsibilty for unavailability of or poor service from caddies. The golf clubs accept no responsibilty for caddies.

No caddies are allowed at The European Club.

Caddies shouold be requested if required at time of booking with Tailor-Made Golf Tours. As caddies can never be absolutely guarnateed we cannot accept payment for caddies at time of booking.

FORECADDY

A forecaddy costs between €20-€25 per player and is one way of reducing the expense of caddies on a golf trip. Ideal for certain courses where getting around the course is straightforward

MOTORISED CARTS

Carts are available at many golf clubs but many of the more popular links do not permit carts. The full list of courses where carts are probibited is given below.

Carts may be requested at the time of booking. They will be reserved (where available) at the golf clubs and must be paid for (direct to the golf club) on the day.

Carts generally cost between €40-€80 per round.

Many clubs have a limited supply of carts, and many clubs have difficulty maintaining numbers as the golf season progresses.

Carts are completely prohibited at: Ballybunion Old, Royal Portrush, Royal County Down, Portmarnock.

Carts can only be used with a valid medical certificate at Tralee, Lahinch, County Louth and The Island. At these clubs there are a very limited number of carts available and they often are not delivered. At Lahinch the cart must be driven by the owning member (so only one person per cart) and if available the cart fee must be supplemented by a caddy fee.

At Doonbeg and Old Head carts may be used but club policy requires a forecaddy to also accompany the group.

PULL TROLLEYS

Pull trolleys are widely available and generally cost between €3-€4 per day

MOTORISED TROLLEYS

Limited numbers of motorised trolleys are available at some clubs. Motorised trolleys cost between €15 - €30 per round.
