Have Clubs, Will Travel...to the K-Club

The annual IGTOA Networking Event and Awards Dinner will take place at the K-Club next Sunday and Monday. Between the networking event on Sunday afternoon and the awards dinner on Monday evening there is the annual team of four tournament on one of the fine courses at the K-Club.

So despite the practiced policy of not playing until Masters weekend the clubs have been rescued from hibernation, cleaned and polished, and generally made ready for the thrill of the Palmer course and the chance to stake our own Ryder Cup claim.

The networking event brings together the golf tour operators in Ireland and beyond with the golf clubs, accommodation and transport providers and other ancillary services to the golf travel industry.

The awards dinner is a black-tie gala affair which encompasses awards, as voted by members of the IGTOA, to golf clubs and accommodations who excel in their field. Nominations and results are never discussed so everything is up in the air and speculation is rife. Expect a few surprises.

The golf tournament is being run over both courses and Tailor-Made Golf Tours has been fortunate to secure a draw on the Palmer course, so giving us a chance to see how preparations are going for the Ryder Cup. The European Open will also return to the Palmer course in July of this year and that course will not be altered for 2006.

Our draw has been amde for 8.00 a.m. so there will be little practice time - the challenge will be to survive with one dozen balls.
