Links Portmarnock is a Bernhard Langer designed championship course on the same stretch of coastline as its more famous neighbour, Portmarnock Golf Club. The links is part of the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, a superb 4**** facility that was once the abode of the Jameson whiskey family. Reflecting the golfing style of its creator, Portmarnock Links is a high-quality golf course that flows naturally through the seaside duneland. A prominent feature is the quality of the many bunkers, deep and penalising but always visible.
Portmarnock Links Course Description
Indeed the golf course is presented in such a way as to inform you the exact nature of the shot required with an equally clear signal that there is little room for error. The course is also designed in such a way as to just get better as each hole is played. The first 6 holes are played away from the coastal area before moving towards and finally along the Irish Sea.
The finishing holes are especially challenging and require patience and concentration, as well as well-executed golf shots to successfully conclude what is certain to be a memorable round.
Portmarnock Golf Hotel and Links is an ideal base for a golfing holiday on the east coast of Ireland. There are further links courses at Portmarnock, Royal Dublin and St. Annes to the south and The Island to the north. There are several local parkland courses and the idyllic fishing village of Howth and the scenic Howth peninsula is 3 miles away. Dublin city centre is accessible by suburban rail, bus or car (30 minutes off-peak).
