Testimonials to Tailor-Made Golf Tours

Thank you so much for all your assistance in the planning and execution of our trip. This was our second hop across the water to Ireland and it was flawless. Your suggestions on routing and accommodations were spot on and really were helpful for rookies like ourselves. The golf was spectacular and great fun to play links golf versus the golf we normally play here in Canada.
There was a bit of driving but it was necessary to fit in everything (the
courses) we wanted to play and see. The GPS was a life saver, particularly with navigating the small roads and streets while remembering to stay on the proper side of the road. And though we like to say we brought the unbelievable weather with us, feel free to take a little credit yourself (if you think you are capable of providing it again!). We all had tremendous fun and are still on a high from the trip.
Thanks again and we will be providing glowing recommendations to any friends that are considering a trip to your lovely country.

J. Oattes June 2012

The trip of a lifetime.  Thanks to Taylor Made Tours for their help and continuous improvement in putting this together.

S. Kinney May 2012

It exceeded my expectations! I love Ireland and will no doubt be back , it felt like I was home.

I really enjoyed playing links courses and of course the scenery that goes with it.

We are all so glad that we had a driver and Mick and Chris were absolutely wonderful. They were always professional, kind, accommodating, and patience.

N. Fanjoy June 2012

A very professional trip organised from start to finish by a very serious company.

M. Kelly, June 2012

You did a marvelous job in helping to create our golf experience in Ireland.
Professional and caring. You truly wanted to insure that our experience would be memorable and you accomplished this in spades! The way you handled the Kinsale issue was over the top!
Thank you so much..
I would highly recommend Tailormade Golf Tours to anyone wanting to go to Ireland.

B. Sherkin, June 2012

The trip was so organized that all we had to worry about was finding our golf balls and not falling off a cliff at Old Head.  When the time comes for the next trip i'll know who to go to.

B. Moffatt July 2012

We had an excellent time.  Everything was very well arranged and all reservations were flawless.  The courses were very well picked, and driver and coach was a tremendous asset (having a larger coach was particularly comfortable).  This is my second trip with Tailor-Made and I will definitely come back for a third (and more)

M. McKelvey, July 2012

Hi Peter, thanks for the email.  I sent in our comments via the online form but I do want to say that you and Irene were fantastic and I was very impressed with how easy it was dealing with the both of you and how well organized our trip was.  You guys did a great job and feel free to use me as a reference.  For our next Ireland golf trip we will definitely use you guys again.

Again thanks for a great trip.

Blair S. Murphy, July 2012

Hello Peter,

I trust that this email finds you well.

We all had a super time and I will certainly be singing your praises to anyone who wants to go to Ireland.

D. Sharp, July 2012

Peter and Irene,

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how much we all enjoyed the golfing trip that you worked so hard to put together.  Sorry we did not get to meet Irene, but it was a pleasure meeting Peter.  Mick was great, the B&B owners/managers/staff could not have been more welcoming.  The car rental went as smooth as could be and the pre-programmed GPS was invaluable.  (I hope you got it back safe and sound.)  Even the weather, for the most part, was cooperative.

Warm regards,

Irene & Peter

The four of us would like to thank you for a fantastic experience to Ireland!  Everything went well including the weather.  Between the 8 rounds I think we only experienced about 15 minutes of rain.

Thanks again!

Hi Irene and Peter.

Thank you for arranging our recent vacation, which exceeded all our expectations. The Hotels /  Inns were all great, with special note that Ard Na Sidhe was actually worth the drive. The golf was spectacular and we got to enjoy sunshine and pelting rain to complete the wonderful experience. We will undoubtedly do another trip, and we look forward to working with you again. Thank You!!!!

Jennifer and Jim Trainor, Sept 2012

Peter! Thanks for everything! The trip was fabulous! and I think everyone had a good time. Sean, the driver, was excellent and the courses were great. Personally I thot the European was a little too difficult and the lack of caddies and/or a poor course guide (virtually every course had a professional's opinion on how to play the hole and the European did not) added to the difficulty. The guys in general were split over their favorite course....some liked Portmarnock and others the European.

Thanks again and hopefully we see u soon!

Regards, Brian ~ SEPTEMBER 2011

Peter and Irene – thanks for all your help in organizing the trip. All went well. Weather was generally good so thanks for arranging that too!

Michael Newman ~ May 2011

Randy and I can't thank you enough for the thoughtful trip you put together for us. Irish golf and countryside were very invigorating. I left better educated.
I am hoping to put together another trip next year.
All the best,

Tom Cloward July 2011

Peter & Irene,

I wanted to thank you both so much for organizing our trip to Ireland.  We had an absolutely incredible time.  Everything ran smoothly and I felt  taken care of the whole time.   I hope to be able to do a tour with you again soon and would be happy to recommend your company to anyone.  I still cannot get the beauty of Tralee and other sights out of my mind!

Thomas Leveroni, CFA  June 2011

Irene, I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that our trip went wonderful and everyone was very happy.  We will recommend Taylor Made Golf Tours to anyone that asks.  Our driver Mick was great and he is a good sport.  He became one of the guys by the end of the week and he was extremely accommodating.  Thank you for a job well done!

Peter/Irene

Just a note of thanks for arranging our recent tour.  It all went very smoothly and was most enjoyable (even with the rainstorm at the Island on Fri).
Thanks again.

Just sending thru a note of thanks for our Golf Tour organised by your company in July 2011.

Brett and I had an absolutely fantastic time and everything ran extremely smoothly.  Pity it rained a little, but I suppose you can’t organise everything.

The Courses were First Class. The Accommodation was Super

Dealing with Peter and yourself was effortless the whole way through

I’ll be mentioning to all of my “Golfing Mates” just how good you were when I see them next.

Until the next time I fly over to Ireland, happy golfing, and I look forward to using your services again.

Dale Height ~ July 2011

Our golf trip came off without a hitch thanks to the planning and coordination offered by you guys. We will post a review on the Internet that will express our feelings and emphasize the great service provided by Tailor Made.

Once again, we made the right choice when we picked Tailor Made and had a great trip.

Hello to Peter, he was great throughout the whole process. I hope we get another opportunity to call on you again.

Irene and Peter,

Just wanted to drop a line and say thank you so much for all your work in putting our trip together. It was outstanding. Cyril was also so a big help.

The Hotels were first class,Golf courses were amazing.Royal County Down, truly a top 5 course in the world. The European-we were the only ones on the course that day and The Island-beautiful, challenging. Service and hospitality in all areas was second to none, felt right at home immediately.

We had a few mine glitches with the GPS but we could all read maps,so everything worked out.

Can't say when I'll be organizing another trip but hopefully it will be in 2012 to the South and South West of Ireland.
Tailor Made Golf Tours will be contacted immediately !

Thanks again so much. All of you do a great job.

Peter and Irene, Thank you so much for all that you did with Carol's and Michael's trip. Courses were great, the accommadations all terrific and the weather was unbelievable. Carol would like you to widen the roads however. We will talk sometime in the future. Again, many thanks, you two were great. Best, Jim ~ May 2010

Peter - Irene - THANK YOU!!!  Our trip was everything plus, way more, than we hoped for.  Thank you both for helping to make it happen and being so patient with us.  We all can't wait to come back!

We had a great time. The courses were superb. The accommodation were comfortable. Finbar did a great job taking care of us. We will do this again. We made It home safely.

Good morning to the both of you,

It's been already one week since we left Ireland.... I wanted to follow up with you to give you some idea on how we found the trip.

The experience was simply amazing. For starters the weather was superb and the people of Ireland are sooooooooo friendly.

We enjoyed all four of the golf courses, my wife preferred the course in Westpark, she enjoys parkland courses, and for the price ( 25 Euros) what a deal!!!. I preferred Lahinch, WOW!! it was beautiful. We also enjoyed the Royal Dublin and Connamara.

Paul was extremely friendly when greeting us at the airport on the Thursday, the GPS was very useful and thanks for the phone it came in handy when we had our flat tire on the Saturday ( At the beginning I had a tough time with the narrow country roads.)

By the way, the food throughout the country was great, the pubs simply amazing, it was an all around success and Sylvie and I would like to thank you both for the great work in setting up the trip.

Again, Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable.

Benoit & Sylvie, Aug 2010

Just a short note to say thanks for the help you gave me in organising our trip to Tullamore. The golf courses were all great and apart from a little coring at Mullingar they were all in top nick. The Bridge House Hotel was first rate and I must give you special thanks for organising two evening meals there for us – the food was outstanding. Also the Captain at Mullingar was a real character and made the 16 of us feel like special guests in his clubhouse.

David Forfar 20 Sept 2010

Irene – thanks so much for all that you did for us for our Ireland trip.  We had a great time (we had one afternoon of rain, and that was at the Cashen Course) and the lads were very happy with the courses, the organization and the availability of Guinness!  The hotels that you put us in were perfect – please pass on our regards to the hotels.  We’ll be back some day

All the best to you and Peter.

Kind regards

Room at Dough Mor Lodge was ok and Kingfisher Loudge was the best what comes to a room. Flyover BB had perfect location and a very friendly host family. Early morning was not a problem.

I would just like to thank you for all your help in planning the Golf trip to Galway last week. My clients and indeed the 4 of us had a fantastic time which was greatly helped by the fact that the weather was so good. Please see my feed back points below

The coach was perfect and we had more than ample room. It was great that we could leave the clubs on board for the few days and the driver Ken was really good and indeed patient especially on Thursday as we kept him waiting as we were late finishing and then had a few drinks!!

The Park House Hotel is brilliant and ever so welcoming from all the staff. I did not have one complaint from any of the lads and indeed would like to say thanks from myself for the room upgrade. The Guinness was lovely!!!! We also had dinner there on the Friday night and it was superb.

Again thanks again for helping me to organize this trip and look forward to many more in the future.

Dear Peter and Irene-

Haven't heard from you regarding a post-trip survey. We had a great time. All was in order, aside from 2 small things- the microbrewery (in Inghe?) in the material is not there anymore (we tried!) and Bunratty Woods B&B was not programmed into the GPS. I would be happy to give you rave reviews- just point me in the right direction. Thanks again.

I HAVE BEEN REMISS IN GETTING BACK TO YOU AT THE CONCLUSION OF OUR IRELAND GOLF TRIP AT THE FIRST OF JUNE.  EXCEPT FOR THE DETOUR TO PARIS, BROUGHT ABOUT BY BAD WEATHER AND MISSING THE PLANE IN NEWARK, THE TRIP WAS "FABULOUS AND BRILLIANT"! THANK YOU FOR ARRANGING HAVING AN ADDITIONAL DRIVER THERE TO MEET US AT THE AIRPORT AND WHO DROVE US TO OUR HOTEL IN WESTPORT.   THE WEATHER WAS VERY COOPERATIVE AND THE GOLF WAS MOST MEMORABLE.  OUR DRIVER EAMON, OR KNOWN TO US AS THE BIG "E",  WAS MOST HELPFUL AND ADDED TO THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE.  THE BUS WAS JUST THE RIGHT SIZE AND VERY COMFORTABLE.  THE HOTELS AND THEIR STAFFS WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY YO BE HELPFUL TO THE "ROWDY YANKS".  WE LOVED THE HOTELS IN WESTPORT AND ENNIS.  SEASIDE GOLF IS  VERY DIFFICULT AS NONE OF US CAME CLOSE TO SHOOTING OUR HANDICAPS.  WE WATCHED TOM WATSON THE OTHER DAY SUFFER THE SAME FATE WE EXPERIENCED ON MANY HOLES.  THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN AND WE WILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU AND YOUR COMPANY TO WHOEVER ASKS

J. HUGHES  22 JULY 2009

PS  MY BROTHERS AND I WERE SUPRISED TO SEE THAT THE TOP TOURNAMENT AT THE WESTPORT GOLF CLUB IS THE "HUGHES CUP" SO WE HAD OUR PICTURE TAKEN WITH IT.  IN ADDITION WE WERE ABLE TO MEET WITH 29 ADDITIONAL FAMILY MEMBERS IN CLIFDEN AND NEWPORT, MANY OF WHOM WE HAD NOT MET BEFORE.   "IT WAS A GRAND IRISH GOLF TRIP OF A LIFETIME"

Hi Peter and Irene,

I just wanted to send you a grand Thanks on behalf of our group-----your help and service made this a most special trip.

All those little details like the GPS, the Vodaphone and the arrangements with the courses and caddies allowed us to enjoy the golf, the country and the culture without the angst of uncertainty.

Even more, we appreciate your integrity----not too many people would have returned those discounts from Ballybunion and Dooley’s.

We will always include you when we plan trips in the future.

Pat   - 22nd July 2009

Peter,
Just wanted to drop a quick line to thank you again for a great trip.  Everything went off without a hitch, except I guess the weather at Old Head on Saturday (3 out of 4 days isn't bad in my book).  My Dad's already pushing for a return trip next year, maybe to the north.
In any case, we all appreciated your guidance, and hope that we left no loose strings (car, navigation etc.)

Peter/Irene,
Just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for all the help on our golf trip last week.  We were very pleased with all aspects of the visit to include the van, B&B's, schedule and golf courses.  This is in great part due to both of you.

One comment regarding the GPS: we found the Garmin wanted to take us on the shortest routes between locations regardless of size of the road.  Due to the tight nature of some the roads (Ring of Kerry and Kinsale), we felt that we would have been better served to stay on the national roads vs the regional and local roads.  I don't know if you can program the GPS to default to the more prominent roads vs the shortest route.

Thanks again and best regards,

J. Cavanaugh -- 5 July 2009

Irene,

Wanted to say thank you to you and Peter for your hard work in making all of our travel arrangements. Alex and I had a wonderful time and all of the details were in perfect order. Unfortunately, we ran into significant weather at Old Head (dense fog / visibility of about 50 yards or less on most holes). Otherwise we experienced several “cam” golf days, met some interesting characters, became quite proficient in driving on the wrong side of the road, attended a free rock concert with the locals in Ballybunion, grew quite fond of the full Irish breakfasts and put away a few pints.

Thanks again and I apologize for being out of sorts upon arrival...it seems travel has become so much more labor intensive than it used to be...or maybe I’m just getting old!

Please feel free to use me as a reference for your company.

Thanks a million, cheers!

J. Carney - 3rd July 2009

Hi Peter:

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say Thanks!  We are all back from our whirlwind trip of Ireland.  You’re suggestions and itinerary were Great, we got good an wet at Tralee, but I like to think that means we got a good old Irish experience!  And the wind was quick to dry us out, so that helped!

Anyhow, attached is a pic of before we started at Tralee.  Thanks again and if I am asked for recommendations I will certainly send people to Tailormade tours for help in planning similar events!

Best Regards,

-SD- September 2008

Amazing!  Peter was incredibly helpful.  Trip was really perfect.  I will  not let my friends think about planning a golf trip to Ireland without contacting you first. On 14 at the island in a torrential downpour I hit a 120 yard punch 7 iron - a shot I had been practicing in anticipation of the trip - which bounced 30 yards in front of the green and rolled to 6 inches for my only birdy of the trip.  Had it gone in I might have never left!

MS - August 2008

Tailor Made simply took the hassle out of the whole trip for us. Everything was arranged to suit our travel/timing and great initial advice on coursesand accommodation. Very friendly approach and also first class back up over slight dispute with one of the courses regarding playing condition. I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

A. Carswell - August 2008

Des, Peter and Irene
Thank you for a great golf vacation in Ireland The trip was well arranged and organized. All the courses were great. We found the people at the courses and the hotels wonderful. That made up for the the one day of  wind and rain. Hats off to the driver who made sure we were on time every day and was so helpful with his local knowledge. You run an excellent operation and would recommend you every highly.

Please accept our thanks for a wonderful trip.  The arrangements made by Des and Irene were impeccable.....Our driver Hugh (which we would not have done without) imparted local history and had some wonderful recommendations for meals.  He navigated the narrow roads of Ireland and was always cheerful.

We would probably rate the courses in the following order: Ballybunion, Old Head, Tralee, Waterville and Killarney Golf and Fish.  We played Bally in the rain and wind, but its history , caddies and beauty impressed us all.  Old Head was played in 50 mph winds, not great for golf but the views were magnificent,,,,,,,,many commented it was the most beautiful course they ever played,  and that's saying something for this  group of travelers......We had three players par the 12th of Tralee, I of course 3 putted for bogey...........Jim,  Jason and Bob should all be entered into your hall of fame.

Our accommodations were also first rate at the House de Brock, Foleys and Randall's.   With the exception of a limited supply of ice at Teach all went well.............Again thanks for your efforts and planning and we hope to visit again......................

Alex - August 2008

Sorry for taking so long to give you some feedback from our recent holiday in Ireland, but I've been slow to get to all my email.

All had a great time and everything was well organized.  The itinerary Des and you set-up for us was excellent.  The hotels/B&B's were very good.  Having the coach and especially Hugh Carthy (our driver) made the trip the best it could be.  Hugh was everything and more that Ed had requested.  He was quite the gentleman and his insights were outstanding.  Hugh was not only attentive to our needs, but was articulate and pleasurable to be around.

The only suggestion I have to offer is I would strongly recommend any golfers playing at Old Head have at least a forecaddie if they want to use buggies.  While I generally remembered the course from 6 years ago, it has changed and the caddie master suggested a forecaddie, which we did not take (our biggest mistake).  The cart paths are in many cases some distance from the tee boxes and the tee boxes are hidden behind sand dunes and thus difficult to find.  This really slowed us down and we walked almost as much as if we had used caddies.  Also, Old Head gave playing preference to members on the Sunday we played.  This put additional pressure on our group and somewhat reduced our golfing pleasure.

Patsy and I could not have had any better holiday on our private portion of the trip.  The Wicklow Lodge was excellent and the hospitality was first class.

One totally unexpected pleasure was Cyril Byrne.  We thoroughly enjoyed Cyril and learned we had golf in our veins.  Learning about Colin, Cyril's son,  who caddies for Retief Goosen and authored Bagman made for great conversation. I'm presently reading the book and the insights is most interesting.

Again thanks for planning and arranging an excellent and memorable vacation.  Everything was first class.

Regards,

J. Pemberton - 18th August 2008

Des-

Thanks so much for putting this great golf trip together. Everything worked out perfectly.  Our hotel accommodations were outstanding and the golf courses were as memorable as described.  The sunny weather didn't hurt matters either.  As you know this was our first time in Ireland and what a time we had.  We will absolutely recommend Tailor Made to our friends.  I know my group is already talking about the next trip to Ballybunion and Lahinch.  Also cheers to Cyril for his help at the airport. Our GPS satnav was brilliant.  Thanks again.
Best regards,

R Kupersmith - 12 May 2008

Tailor Made did just a wonderful job arranging everything. Everything went better than expected and the Tailor Made Golf Tour book was so informative.  I will always recommend Taylor Made Golf to anyone going to Ireland.  Very impressed with every aspect of our trip.  Thanks so much

Sorry I don't have any suggestions for improvement.  The entire tour, accomodations, information was better than expected.  Really very impressed with Peter, Irene and Des.Thanks so much you made our trip to Ireland the best vacation we have ever had.

Thanks Scott & Kay Osborn

Scott Osborn, Oct 2007

Hi To all @ Tailormade.
Thanks millions for the brilliant tour of north coast golf courses.
everything was spot on: flight times, car hire, hotels, golf courses and the weather.
Must also mention the great warmth of the Irish; made us feel very welcome. Well I guess you realise we had a great time, thanks to the great service and comprehensive
information supplied by Tailor-Made Golf Tours.

Brian Lindores, Oct 2007

One of the most memorable trips i have every been on..
extremely efficient / well organized.. GPS is a necessity which Tailor Made provided...had an incredible stay w/ David Welch of the Tides.. going back and would do the exact same trip again.

Hunter Brown, Oct 2007

It was a golfers dream.  The schedule of courses were a
deverse blend of sceneray and quality.   The choice of hotels were
excellent.   The two drivers, Jon and Padraig were excellent.  They were very informative about local landmarks and lifestyles. Your out fit is top notch.   Thanks for a tremedous experience.

Steve Mason, Oct 2007

We had a great trip.  The courses were great, the accomodations perfectly fit our schedule and we felt like we didn't have to do anything but show up at the designated times and locations.  You took all the hassle out of vacationing and golfing in Ireland.  Thanks

Sherman Heggarty, Sept 07

Everything went so smoothly.  Never had a moment on the trip that didn't go as scheduled.  The courses and hotels were perfect for us.  I would recommend Tailor Made to anybody taking a golf trip to Ireland and will definitely use you again in the future.  Thank you for making it such a stress free wonderful experience for us.  GPS system in the car is a huge help too.

Kris Weshinskey, Sept 07

Once again a perfectly arranged Tour by Peter and his team. Everything went like clockwork, the instructions and arrangements were perfect. We highly recommend his services

Once again Peter a brilliantly organised tour. Despite changes we made as some golfers came and went, you were able to adjust. You took all the hastle out of the Tour for me, and we would never go to Ireland golfing without using your services.

Charlie Mills, May 07

Dear Peter,
Just a note to let you know we had a great time in Ireland playing the golf tour your Company organised. Hotels, van, meals in Isaacs and Foley's and the courses were grand.

Please send my thanks to Irene and Annette.
We will return - as someone once said.
Sincerely

Barry Cox, May 07

Peter,

Just a brief note to thank you so much for organising, again, everything extremely well for us.  The hotel was better than we expected (indeed, it was excellent in all respects) and the courses superb.

Anyone on the fence about using your offices, please refer them to me.

Renewed thanks - and best wishes,

John Davies, May 07

Great trip from start to finish. Hotel recommendations and courses were as advertised by Tailor made. More options on selecting a car would have been nice, but pick up and drop off were hassle-free. Peter was very helpful greating us and getting us on our way.

Dave Frederick, May 07

Great trip.  We knew it would be a lot of driving and it was, but a good way to see where we want to spend more time next time we come.

Can you beleive sunny and no wind for the majority of the trip for the first part of May? Would HIGHLY recommend that it be your recommendation that people driving get the satellite map device.  It was invaluable, particularly with the way the roads are signed.  Saved a huge amount of worry/hassle for us.

Tom Bonk, May 07

Thanks so much for making our Ireland golf tour a success.
Cyril was very helpful in meeting us at the airport and getting us out on the road to the first course.

Mike Herring, May 07

Irene/Peter
We are all safely back having had a great weekend - despite some challenging weather. County Louth and The European were great courses which we really emjoyed. The Island was also very nice.
Cyril did a great job looking after us when we arrived and the hotel was also good. All in all a great trip. Thanks for all your help.

David Bowerman, May 07

The trip was tremendous.  We are still talking about it and the many memories we have.  Everyone wants to go back.  Peter went above and beyond the call of duty.  One of our players' flight was delayed five hours.  Peter waited for him and personally drove him to Killarney and he made the tee time.  The coach driver was excellent.  Pat did a great job and he was a joy to have with us.  Having a coach driver like Pat is the only way to go.

As we found out, scores were not that important.  There were plenty of birdies and plenty of "others."

I have already referred Tailor-Made to two friends.  The constant comment from the group was that there was no stress.  Everything went flawless.  Next time I would probably have skipped Killeen and played Tralee on the way out of Shannon.

Gregg Burrill, June 07

Very good one of our best in the last nine years of tours.
We would like to thank Peter and yourself for your organisation and choices.
We would definately come back to use your services.

Steve Coleby, June 07

Wonderful, we had a great stay.  Must be the worlds best golf!!  It was a real adventure in driving the roads of Southwest Ireland.
Thank you for the GPS, don't know what we'd have done without it. Overall, this trip will be unforgetable for my son and I.
THANK YOU!!!

John Snyder, June 07

The trip was a blast. the golf is amazing and the locals are great. I definatly recomend tailor-made golf tours.

Hank Snyder June 07

Peter
I would like to thank you for arranging an excellent trip for us all. The golf, the hotel & the transport  arrangements were all top quality & we had a great time.
I will certainly be in touch when we arrange our next Irish trip (which I hope won't be too far in the future!!!!) Many thanks on behalf of all the lads!!

Mick Cartwright, May 2007

Peter was phenomenal.  All of the courses were incredible.
The rental cars worked out fine.  The accommodations were great.  We would use Tailor Made again in a heartbeat. My golf game went AWOL, but the courses were still beautiful.  I have never played a more breathtaking course than Old Head.

We looked forward to the trip of a lifetime, and it definitely lived up to  the billing.  I didn't want to come home.  I miss Ireland so much!

Thanks for making it so special for us.

Scott Hewitt, July 07

This was by far the best golf trip I have been on. The views were breathtaking & the courses were in top form.  We have used Tailor made for both of our Ireland golf trips and will continue in the future.

Bob McMahon, July 07

We went to Ireland to celebrate my 50th birthday with three other couples.  Ireland and Tailor-Made Golf Tours made it a trip of a lifetime. Weather was fantastic, had only 5 or so holes in a light rain.

Peter:  Just returned from the GREATEST trip ever !  The whole experience was awesome.  Your country is beautiful... the people are great... the golf is terrific... the weather was almost too nice.. only 1 1/2 days of rain out of 22 and a beautiful day at Old Head , probably the most beautiful course in the world.

I will be sending you  comments on each of the places we stayed... as well as comments on the courses.. This will take a couple days.

I would like to thank you and your associates for the fine job you did in setting up our trip.  Every part went smoothly.. with a large thank you to the GPS ( Shirley ! )  The system is almost flawless.

More later when I recover a bit.

Best Regards,  Darrell

I was sorry it had to end.  Having the coach to squire us around was well worth the cost, and our driver, William Geheraty was the absolute best.  He really helped make the trip memorable. Overall, a simply wonderful trip.  I would love to do it again! Thanks for all your help.

Peter and Irene,  Thanks so much for an excellent trip.
The only problems we had were out of your control (weather -- which you correctly told us would be questionable), and our travel to  and from Ireland (our flight home was cancelled).  But, of course, you had nothing to do with either of these.  Your services were fantastic.  I would definitely use your services again.  Great job!

Despite the unpredictable weather in March, we all had a great time and enjoyed the courses, the beautiful countryside, and friendliness of the Irish.

Fantastic trip.  Well organized by Tailor Made Golf Tours.
Met our representative upon arrival and were on our way in no time in two big vans.  Our trip was memorable, thanks to Tailor Made.

Peter

May I take this opportunity to thank you for arranging what turned out to be a fantastic trip - all nine of us were in full agreement that the level of service from the coach company and the hotel was first class.

The venues you set up were better than could be expected and met our needs precisely.

As for the golf - three excellent courses, but Old Head was something very special - we were made so welcome throughout our day there.

My friends and I would not hesitate in contacting you again should we visit Ireland again - and on the back of this trip I am sure it will be sooner rather than later.

Many thanks again.

Peter, I wanted to let you know that everything went beautifully on our trip. We only go lost once (trying to bypass Kilgorin) and only changed one item on the itinerary (got a later tee time at Waterville so we didn't have to get up so early for the drive). Old Head is now our favorite golf course in the whole world and Waterville is high on the list as well.

We just recommended you to some friends who are talking about a golf trip to Ireland next year and will call you ourselves if we ever come back.

Thanks for everything.

Peter:

Fabulous trip – everything came off like clock work.  Sorry we didn't’t get a chance to meet.  It was nice of you to meet Ray and have breakfast with him.

Carne was my favorite although the back nine at Westport ranks with anything I have seen in my life.  Enniscrone was very difficult and we got blown off Rousse’s Pt.  I quit at #12 but three of my guys finished.  Many Gannon’s up there in County Sligo.  My father spent a lot of time talking with the President and Captain who couldn't’t have been more gracious.  Everywhere we went the golf people we thrilled we passed up the southwest to come up and play “their” courses.

Victor, our driver, was very accommodating and a very nice guy.

All in all, it was a wonderful time.  Thx so much.

Hi Des,

thanks for the note. A fine time was had by all, despite some fairly tricky weather! Hire Cars: Ready, although advance notice of the £9.50 per day all inclusive insurance would be helpful. Also one of the cars only had a half tank of fuel although we were charged for a full tank.
Hotel: absolutely brilliant. Rooms, hospitality, food and location perfect. Courses: All arrangements ran like clock-work. Clubs could not have been more welcoming, and courses were in fine condition.
Travel directions to Galway Bay were slightly off as I think there is a new road that by-passes the T junction (although the club itself is well sign-posted. Co-ordination: Peter met us at the airport and attended on day 1 at Gort. Great help to have a personal touch.

Gerardine,

We had an AWESOME time. I am sorry for not calling you while we were in Ireland to tell you how much fun we were having and how much we appreciated your wonderful efforts on our behalf.

Here's my rundown and feedback:

Directions - My dad and I both were amazed at how accurate your timing was on the directions.  The only problems we had were going to Tralee - I think the directions had us taking the 556 when it should have been the 558 - and finding Brennan's Yard in Galway.  That was tough because we drove in during rush hour and there was construction that made our route change a bit.  We missed turns a couple of times as well but you get the hang of it after a while and you can sense when you're not going the right way.  In every case, we had no problems stopping and getting direction from folks.  I think one of my favorite Irish phrases is "(turn here, turn there, turn here, turn there, and) You can't miss it".  As far as the bet, he won it under protest.  The radio in our original car didn't work so we stopped by Shannon on our way to Bellmullet to get a new one.  In typical Irish fashion they were incredibly gracious and even upgraded us to a Volvo.

Accommodations:  They were great.  It took us a bit getting used to leaving our key when we would leave but overall we were very satisfied.  I think we had the most fun at the Sea Rod Inn in Dohooma.  When we showed up Mayo was in the process of winning their big match and the place was going crazy.  We ended up having dinner there and closing the pub.  The Barrett family that operates the the Inn are wonderful, wonderful people.  We also had a great time at the Laurels in Killarney. They had great food (the best seafood chowder I've ever had) and great music. Finally, the Nineteenth is a great pub in Lahinch.  The music there was incredible.  Some young kids passing through from Derry (not Londonderry they mad sure to point out) sat in for a couple of songs with the original band and they were unbelievable.

Golf:  Here's how I would rank the courses - Lahinch, Carne, Waterville, Tralee, and Connemara.  We had a perfect day for Lahinch and I was just blown away. It is simply the greatest golf course I've ever played.  Carne is a close second.  We played it in 40mph winds and occasional rain but that did not dampen our enthusiasm for the course.  I would make the drive to Bellmullet ever time I'm in Ireland to play it again.  Our weather for Waterville was not the greatest but that too is a world class course.  More importantly, there is a young caddy who suggested a change in the mental part of my game that dramatically improved my scoring.  If only for his advice, I would have swum to Ireland.  The back nine at Tralee might be the most picturesque we played.  What's interesting about Tralee is that I felt I was at an American resort course and not an Irish golf course and that turned me of of it a bit.  Although Connemara is last, it's still a wonderful golf course.  I actually shot my best score there which is probably not a surprise.

Overall, I couldn't be happier.  It was a trip of a lifetime and I want to thank you for making it possible.

Cheers. (another phrase I picked up!)

Dan.

P.S. I'll send some pictures in a separate email.

Good Morning Peter,

Just now getting back to my feet as I brought a cold back from Ireland and sadly have passed it on to Jim who is none to happy with me for it!

Thank you for the credit. I think I speak for all of us that we were very impressed with your efforts and the fact that you showed in there at Adare to discuss things with us. I think we all feel the same ,that we were terribly unlucky with the weather but we did enjoy the Ireland experience and we thought that it was a beautiful place.

As far as the golf goes, Adare was a great experience. We loved that course. Albeit that it was "North American" in flavour, playing in that "Manor" setting made it a memorable treat. As far as the K-Club goes, the condition was great and the older course had a great deal of ambiance in the clubhouse so that made it feel like a new experience. I am sure that if the Heritage was in better nick, the experience would have been better regardless of the design.

As far as Killarney, Doonbeg, Ballyliffin, they were all great and "once in a lifetime" type golf experiences. Weather colors our memories of them however. Also, the Mahoney's Point conditions were not great. However a great test for us all.

All in all, other than weather, a great trip. THanks for your work on this Peter and we'll be in touch.

Ger –

First the negative:

A couple of the written directions were a little confusing…the directions to Tralee were difficult, especially as we got closer to the course.  And the directions to Waterville mentioned some turn in Fossa that we didn't’t find, and probably created the most confusion.  Not sure if the confusion came from use of local vernacular or if indeed the directions were off slightly.  In any case, we never missed a tee time due – we got a late start everyday and still made it in plenty of time.  And we made an executive decision to skip Cork, rest up and get to Kinsale early.  Don’t guess we can get a refund from Cork?

Now the positive:

It was the best trip any of us can remember.

The car was exactly what we needed -- easy to drive, safe, comfortable and the perfect size for three golfers.

The weather was superb.  Perhaps our expectations were low, since the forecasts we saw before coming called for rain every day – but we only got rain on about the last 3 holes at Lahinch.  Tralee was superb, sunny, 3 club wind but spectacular.  Waterville was overcast with a slight breeze, perfect conditions for scoring (which left us no excuse).  As I said, we skipped Cork – and had a beautiful afternoon and evening in Kinsale.

And God saved the best for last.  The most spectacular day of golf any of us have had at the Old Head.  Sunny, warm, slight breeze – just perfect.

All the accommodations were perfect.  Perfect locations for people who are there to get to know the local flavor.  Everything within walking distance.

I also know that, like the weather, you don’t have much responsibility for the hospitality of the Irish people.  But they were warm, open and delightful, and we did our best to reciprocate, and we will definitely take some of that back to the States.

We had our most fun one night in Sneem, on the way back from Waterville.  You may want to include that as a great after-golf stop for a quick pint and a game of billiards for anyone swinging back around the Ring of Kerry.

Ger, thank you so much – it was a once in a lifetime trip that we plan on doing again!

I’ve attached a couple of photos – please feel free to use them on your website if you wish.  Both are from Old Head – one is our group teeing off on an amazing front side par three.  The second is approach to 17 th, par five, with the Lighthouse in background.  That’s my ball about 3 feet from the hole.

THANKS AGAIN!!

Geraldine:

Sorry I did not respond sooner; I was extremely busy upon returning.

The trip was great!!

We all loved Foley's and staying in the center of Killarney.  That was just fabulous.

Mahoney's Point was a good course to start on, but not as great as the others.

We all loved Waterville, Old Head, and Doonbeg.  It rained heavily the day we played Tralee so I can not really comment.  Lahinch was beautiful but very very hard.

We would definitely recommend a nights stay in kinsale as the drive down and back is a lot for one day.

The Shamrock Inn was also good when staying in Lahinch.

Unanimously as a group if we had to say what our favorite parts were it would be: for golf Old Head and Waterville;  and Foley's to stay.

The only suggestion I would make would be to provide a map down to Old Head, and let everybody know the drive from Killarney to Lahinch can take some time--3 1/2 hours for us due to traffic.

Other than that the weather was good(only one day rainy), the people were great and friendly, and most of all your planning and suggestions were great.

Thanks so much for helping our first trip to Ireland be great and very memorable.

Best regards.

Hi Peter:

We had such a wonderful time in Ireland, thanks to all your help.  You did an unbelievable job!  Don't worry about Rosnaree directions etc.  We were only teasing you a little when you arrived at Rosnaree.  It was so nice of you to spend all that extra time trying to find us and make sure we got there.  The people at the grocery store had a vague clue and steered us in the general direction of the Laws (Robert and Ashling).  Rosnaree couldn't have been better.  What an incredible place!

Everything was perfect.  We are compiling our scrapbook.  We are recommending you to everyone.  Hope that you will stop by and play some golf with us, if you are in NY.  Please send our best to Tomas and to all of our hosts and hostesses for making our trip so memorable.  Chris, Joe, Lauren, Katie
