Car Rental Information

The following is a general summary of the terms & conditions of car-hire. The most important points to consider are:

• to ensure that the vehicle hired will be sufficiently large to accommodate all luggage and golf clubs
• to note that additional insurances and other items may add to the cost of the tour

Included in Your Quote

Your tour price includes unlimited mileage, Third-Party Liability Insurance, Collision Damage Waiver Insurance, Theft Loss Insurance, Local Taxes and 24-hour service.

The excess payable in the event of damage being caused to the rental vehicle depends on the type of vehicle, but is normally between €750 and €1,500.

Local taxes include a charge of approximately €25 levied by all car hire companies in Ireland and variously known as Airport Tax or Location Service Charge.

Not Included in Your Quote

The following items are optional and will be offered to you on arrival to collect the car.

Super Collision Damage Waiver – This reduces the excess liability in the event of damage to the rented vehicle to zero. The cost of SCDI is between €7 and €15 per day depending on the type of vehicle. It is not available on certain luxury models.

Personal Accident Insurance - Covers the driver for personal injury or fatality. Available for €5 - €7 per day and should not be necessary if you have adequate travel insurance.

Additional Drivers – The cost of the rental is based on a single named driver only. Additional drivers can be added at time of pick-up for €7.50 per day.

One-Way Rentals, Delivery Charges – Certain one-way rentals and pick-ups at some regional airports incur additional charges. These will have been specified in your tour itinerary.

Young Drivers

It is imperative that you let us know before booking if you are under 25 years old or over 70 years old.

Car Pick-Up

You must bring a valid drivers license and a credit card with you to pick-up the rental car. The license must be unendorsed and you must have had the license for at least two years.

Your credit card will be used to pay for any additional insurance or other options that you avail of. It is also used as guarantee for the excess, and for payment of any parking/speeding tickets received during the rental.

Car Type

Car hire companies will only guarantee a vehicle of a certain class and not a specific make and model. Tailor-Made Golf Tours endeavours to ensure that the class specified on the itinerary is sufficiently large to accommodate all passengers and luggage comfortably, and we do let the company know that golfers with golf bags are arriving. It is imperative that you let us know if you will travel with large amounts of luggage and if your golf clubs are either contained in extra large golf bags (e.g. professional sized) or will be transported in a hard-shelled protective case (known as coffins to coach drivers).
