Set in 120 acres of mature parkland, Kilkenny Golf Club provides a stern test to golfers of all abilities. Its narrow, tree-lined fairways require accuracy from the tee, while its smallish greens require accuracy of approach. The four par-3s are especially noteworthy, each requiring precision from the tee and anywhere near 12 strokes for the four holes is an achievement. Although an old golf course, Kilkenny is superbly maintained and the quality of the fairways and greens is remarkable. The course is not long but doglegs, the narrowness of the fairways and greens with plenty of slope ensure a sufficient challenge. The golf course is just one mile from Kilkenny city and its famous castle.
